I have been known to say on more than one occasion that Crafty = Crappy and I'm not really a big fan of giving hand-made gifts. This has left me in craft project purgatory, because I have no motivation to finish anything. Ever.
So, I thought - Awesome! Maybe, if this is for the children (for the CHILDREN!) I will actually be able to finish a craft project. So, I Googled "knitting" and was sucked into a vortex, wherein I discovered... knitting blogs. It may sound odd, but truly, they have been amazing. I found this pattern that seemed to be pretty dummy proof and have been working on it for a few weeks.

If you still think crafty=crappy, you should check out www.etsy.com. It's a virtual marketplace for handmade goods and it's chock full of amazing talent. Not to sound like an ad or anything, but I've bought so many unique and well-made things from there. I won't say there's not any crap (cause there is) but the truly talented far outweigh the crappy. And good luck with that knitting!
I know- those ends are a bitch, huh? I weaved them in as I finished each round just to try to spread out the torture, but even at the end there were still a ton.
It looks GREAT though! It would definitely be a generous gift for Project Linus (which is such a good cause). Good luck with it!
