It's my duty to make that bootie

I'm in the middle of working on a cardigan for myself and it is taking a long, looooong time. This is because it's knit in a smaller gauge than I've ever knitted before - I'm using sock yarn which is very thin. Sock yarn is also known as fingering weight (gross) or 4 ply (sounds like toilet paper).

To keep myself from going crazy, I'm trying to start smaller projects that can be finished in a few hours just to remind myself that I actually am capable of finishing things. The smallest projects of all, of course, are things for babies. To clarify: these are items FOR OTHER PEOPLE'S BABIES thankyouverymuch.

I'm also trying to increase the skillz in my knitting repertoire, which is how I arrived at the great idea to make the Felted Baby Booties previously mentioned. Last night, I got home from a long day at work, brought up Easy A on Netflix on Demand (I give it an easy B in terms of entertainment value) and started the pattern. I was so pleased at how fast and easy it was to work on something for a tiny foot. It was looking like I was going to have a whole bootie done before heading to bed! But then...

Oh, what's that? I mis-read the pattern and didn't build the other half of the cuff? Greeeeat.

Reading is my strong suit, it's counting that does me in!
Aw, well. I've had to re-do many a project due to a careless errors like this. I'm even thinking about ripping back the sleeve on my cardigan that's taken me a week to build because I did some of the stitch decreases in the wrong order. But I'm going to table that and just start the booties over again. It will be faster this time now that I've done the pattern 90% properly, right?

Then the real fun begins - felting in my lil' washing machine! Hoooboy.

In conclusion - Booties: Can I Kick 'em?

I mean, really

Sorry! I know it's be a long, long time... but life has been monster busy and the holidays just make time move at least ten times the speed of superman reversing the world's orbit.

That being said, I'm still keeping up on my stuff. For example, while I know that he is the lamest of Lame Ducks and that this ship has sailed and he's basically water under the bridge and a host of other folksy Midwestern colloquialisms...

W still really pisses me off.

Even this picture makes me seeth. Let alone that he's up to some major shenanigans in the last month of his Presidency... more on that later!

Saturday, Saturday

Ok, let me preface this post by saying that I am not feeling well. I had a migraine on Friday that knocked me really low and I spent most of the weekend recovering. I hope that none of you will ever know the pained look in the eye of the Walgreen's clerk ringing up toilet paper and tampons for you on a Saturday Night at 9:30 p.m. It's a mix of pity and discuss. I just like to lump my shopping together by areas of the body!

While recouping, I watched alot of tv. I don't find SNL super funny these days, but for whatever reason, this skit killed me. I could not stop laughing at the baby hands! That popped the bubbles!

I hope you love it, too.

... Also this:

I kind of am reversing my stance on Anne Hathaway. I'm kind of loving her lately.

FAIL

... Ok. I'm really sorry.

I have failed my two readers by a) not finishing my Project Runway post and b) not blogging for like a week. I suck at writing down my inane thoughts!

I'm back, though and do hope you'll forgive me!

GUESS WHAT?!

Project Runway has been blocked from moving to Lifetime! Something tells me that this will get overturned, as the Weinstein Co. is super dooper rich, but let a girl dream!

Also, my thanks to M. S-S for passing on this article about how we should stop feeling sorry for Sarah Palin. It's like a get out of guilt free card!

What do we think will happen tomorrow?

Dear Joe: THIS IS YOURS TO LOSE. PLEASE BE AWESOME
xoxo,
Inner City Pressure
Update: 12:30 p.m.

Terrifying news from Huffington Post. Palin is a good debater. And since this format is in her favor, we might be in trubs.

My hope is that by typing my deepest, darkest fear will mean that it will not happen.
EEK!

Bordering on SWEET

Sour Grapes Alert!

You may know that alex once worked as a Special Orders manager at Borders, Inc. He was let go due to the company hemorraging money and also the innovative concept that Corporate HQ had to sell books ...(wait for it)... on the internet. This novel idea is sure to propel the company into the year 2000 with phenominal success!

To get in on the ground floor of what is sure to be a mildly popular utility used by a few super NERDS (who intrinsically heart books, am I right?!), Borders has created a new concept store where people can use computers to customize things and order books. This is a genius idea, as the personal computer has not contributed to the success of it's main competitors for the last 12 years or so one iota.

Quoth the article:
Unfortunately, the future for Borders is about five years ago for everyone else. The concept behind this Concept Borders? Computers!

What's next for these hipster geniuses? Make your own karaoke music video to any Beach Boys song for only 10.99? A rotery phone booth you can use for five bucks a call?! A mixed tape studio?! Siiiiigh...

Even though I'm resentful, I still really like this video of Ira Glass, because This American Life is my great love.

Project Snoreway

Who has two thumbs and didn't get through all of Project Runway last night?

This gal.

Plus, Stapes-Solil is on vacation in the scenic mid-west and was not available to snark with me. I'll post at a later date. My apologies to my two readers!
